Community and Access programmes

Our Community and Access programmes offer access opportunities for community groups and visitors with limited mobility, disability or sensory loss to enjoy Kew.


For visitors with limited mobility

Discovery bus tours

  • We're now accepting bookings from September 2018 onwards
  • Mini-bus tours available Monday to Friday, 11.30am and 2pm
  • For up to 13 people, including one permanent wheelchair user
  • £40 per group (free entry to the Gardens is included)
  • Tours last about an hour
  • Two carers per group required
  • British Sign Language guide available on request

For visitors with sensory loss or limited mobility

Discovery walking tours

  • Walking tours can be arranged for any day of the week
  • For up to five people, including carers £10 per guide (free entry to the Gardens is included)
  • Tours last about an hour
  • British Sign Language guide available on request

For hearing impaired visitors using British Sign Language 

Free monthly walking tours with guides using British Sign Language.
At 11.30am on the first Sunday of each month (excluding January).

For visitors with sight loss and their carers

Free bi-monthly sensory guided walking tours for visitors with sight loss and their carers.
At 11.30am on the second Sunday of every other month (starting February).

For local residents who want to stay active

Free monthly health walks for people living in the London boroughs of Hounslow, Richmond, Hammersmith & Fulham and Ealing who want to stay active.
At 11am on the first Wednesday of each month (excluding January).

For people living with dementia

Free monthly health walks for people living with dementia and their carers.
At 10.30am on the third Tuesday of each month (excluding January).

Community Membership Scheme

This scheme is group annual membership scheme for organisations that provide services directly to people who face physical, sensory, psychological or social barriers to visiting Kew Gardens independently.

Kew Access Forum

A consultative forum of individuals who have experience of disability and a keen interest in making the Gardens as accessible as possible for visitors with additional needs.

Meetings are held twice a year. Members are appointed for a 3 year term and vacancies are advertised via Kew’s recruitment webpage.
