Stunning new boardwalks have been installed in The Wetlands – one of Wakehurst’s most evocative conservation hotspots.
The Wetlands are located near Westwood Lake and contain a huge array of wetland plants that are a magnet for birds and insect life.
They carry a beautiful, self-contained character, nestled between the lake and reservoir in a verdant glade among the wooded hills.
The new boardwalks are twice as extensive as the old ones, and now include broader areas with seating for rest and contemplation of this beautifully tranquil area.
A new woodland shelter, with oak frame and cedar-shingle roof, provides respite from the hot summer sun, and of course the rain during the winter months.
