Allocated space

Pupils look closely at the structure of sunflower seeds, taking seedlings out of the soil to look carefully at the root structure. They observe closely how the different parts of the plant change as it grows.

Learning outcomes

We design our sessions to match the learning outcomes in the national curriculum. All our sessions have a cross-curricular approach and are tailored to suit the educational needs of your group. We aim to give pupils opportunities to work scientifically in areas that are difficult or impossible to create in the school environment.

This session offers pupils the opportunity to:

  • Sequence the plants to show the sunflower lifecycle
  • Observe closely the changes which occur as the plants grow
  • Identify the basic structure of the plant
  • Compare the different stages of the plant.
