How are plants adapted to live in a habitat that has no seasons and where rainfall and temperatures remain constant throughout the year?

In this session, pupils investigate the adaptations that help plants survive in rainforests.

Learning outcomes

We design our sessions to match the learning outcomes in the national curriculum. All our sessions have a cross-curricular approach and are tailored to suit the educational needs of your group. We aim to give pupils opportunities to work scientifically in areas that are difficult or impossible to create in the school environment.

This session offers pupils the opportunity to:

  • Understand the rainforest habitat and climate
  • Appreciate the diversity of plants found in rainforests
  • Understand that plant variations are adaptations to their environment to ensure their survival
  • Identify and name the parts of plants and trees and their adaptations to the climate
  • Describe the function of each of the plant parts and their adaptations.
