Originally a museum of ‘all kinds of useful and curious Vegetable Products’, the Economic Botany Collection today holds around 100,000 objects that represent the myriad of human uses of plants, including clothing, medicine and food.

The collection at Kew is a gateway to world-leading research, supporting conservation efforts, sustainable development, and the preservation and revival of traditional cultures for hundreds of years to come.

Looking to unlock the potential of plants? Join Curator Mark Nesbitt to explore the collection, previously hidden from the public.
