Asian Heath Garden

Our Asian Heath Garden is ablaze with fiery colours during the autumn months. Take a picture of this beautiful spot with its reflections in the Mansion Pond for an eye-catching photo.

The contrasting textures and shades of the grasses, shrubs and trees will make your picture pop.

Westwood Lake

Lying at the bottom of the picturesque valley, Westwood Lake is one of the most beautiful areas of the gardens in autumn.

The warm hues of the leaves and stunning reflections in the water make this spot an unmissable photo subject for your Instagram feed.

Horse chestnut trees

Growing close to the Asian Heath Garden, these horse chestnuts (Aesculus hippocastanum) are an iconic autumn tree.

Their leaves turn bronze and they produce conkers, the encased shiny brown seeds that fall to the ground in autumn. And nothing says autumn quite like a conker.

The Water Gardens

The light, colour and movement in our Water Gardens make it a top spot for capturing breath-taking photos this season. Amble over the little bridge and try out different angles for the perfect shot.

Seasonal highlights

As you wander around our gardens, keep your eyes peeled for any weird and wonderful autumnal plants and fungi.

It could be the fairy-tale-like fly agaric (Amanita muscaria), plump berries, sweet chestnuts inside their spiky green cases, or magnificent magnolia seeds. There are plenty amazing plants and fungi to spot so get snapping.

Make the most of seasonal weather to spice up your Instagram feed. It doesn't have to be sunny to capture the perfect shot.

This picture of our Elizabethan Mansion looming out of the mist and framed by autumnal leaves is atmospheric and a little spooky. Clouds, rain, frost and mist can all add an intriguing element to your photographs.
