There’s something for everyone in our magical after dark experience. Our one mile sparkling trail winds its way through the gardens, illuminating trees and buildings and boasting over one million twinkling lights. From 22 November to 1 January 2018.

As twilight falls, the magic begins...

Fairy-tale meets fantasy in a world of singing trees, larger-than-life flora, ribbons of light, giant baubles, and a flickering Fire Garden. The Palm House leaps into life with a dazzling show of laser beams, jets of light and kaleidoscopic projections.

About the event

Christmas at Kew is an evening event which takes place after the Gardens close. There are nine entry times to start your trail, every 20 minutes from 5pm (last entry 7.40pm).
Entrance to Christmas at Kew is not included in the price of general entry tickets to the Gardens. 


During your visit

For our younger visitors

Santa and his elves will be entertaining the family at the North Pole village and outside White Peaks café there will be a magical vintage fairground.

Festive food and drink

Warm up with some spiced cider, mulled wine or hot chocolate or gather around the fire and toast your own marshmallows. A full children's menu will be available in our cafés.

Christmas shopping

Browse in Kew’s shops and explore our beautiful range of products including homeware, gardening gifts & stationery, perfect gifts and stocking fillers.


Enhance your visit with a VIP experience

Make your evening extra special with our exclusive VIP package.

Your VIP experience includes fast track entry via Victoria Gate and access to a exclusive area in The Botanical restaurant overlooking the beautifully lit Palm House Pond for:

  • Spiced winter cocktail and mince pie on arrival
  • Light festive bites and a warming glass or two of mulled wine after the trail
  • Private cash bar

VIP tickets cost £45 per person. Available for the following trail times: 5pm, 5.40pm, 6.20pm and 7pm. Choose your trail visit date and time, then follow the prompts to book your VIP experience. Advance online booking only.

Reduced day entry tickets for Christmas at Kew

Make a whole day of your Kew Gardens visit by experiencing the Gardens by day and at night.

Gardens close at 3.30pm, you will have to leave and return for Christmas at Kew at your chosen visit time.

  • Children: £2.50 (4–16 yrs, under 4s go free)

How to book and booking fees

In advance
Tickets for the event do sell out so advance booking is always advised. 

  • Book online
  • By phone on 0844 995 9675 (standard call charges apply)
  • In person at Victoria Gate during opening hours

On the day
We keep back 100 tickets on the door at 5pm each evening, but these go very quickly so booking on the day cannot be guaranteed.

Peak and off peak dates
Depending on the date you choose, a peak or off peak rate will be applied. Off peak pricing applies on the following dates:
Wed 22 - Fri 24 November 
Wed 29 & Thurs 30 November
Wed 6 & Thurs 7 December
Wed 13 & Thurs 14 December

Peak pricing applies on all other dates.

All tickets booked are subject to a single transaction charge: 

  • Print at home – £2
  • Tickets sent by first class post – £2.50
  • Tickets booked in person at Kew – £1

Parking can only be booked in advance by phone or online. VIP package is only available online.

Entrance gates and last admission

The main entrance to Christmas at Kew is Victoria Gate on Kew Road.

Brentford Gate is for ticket holders with pre-paid parking in Kew Gardens car park. 

You can select your preferred entry gate when you buy your ticket online. 

If you are delayed, these are the last entry times:

  • Victoria Gate – last entry for 7.40pm ticket holders is 8pm
  • Brentford Gate – last entry for 7.20pm ticket holders is 7.40pm
