Join us for the most magical time of year at Kew Gardens as our after-dark trail lights up for 2020.

Returning for its eighth year, our enchanting winter trail takes a new route, leading you for the first time through the beautifully illuminated Rose Garden.

Old favourites and brand new light installations will sparkle and glow around you, bringing festive cheer to you, your family and friends.

Discover a glittering tunnel of bells, giant illuminated seed heads and majestic trees wrapped in light on your way to the dazzling treetop waterfall, where beams of light interplay in a breath-taking aerial dance.

Tunnel of lights, Christmas at Kew

The iconic Temperate House will be a beautiful spectrum of Christmas colour, with dynamic laser projections enveloping the glasshouse.

Stroll through the sparkling Tunnel of Light twinkling with thousands of fairy lights, and be greeted by fiery sculptures aglow with flickering flames in the scented Fire Garden.

The much-anticipated Palm House Pond finale returns with a stunning light show playing to a memorable soundtrack of festive classics.

Flavour your festive fun with tasty takeaway treats from our street food vendors and have yourself a merry little Christmas with festive drinks and hot chocolate under the stars.

COVID-19 (coronavirus) notice

You can book with confidence for Christmas at Kew. Come along knowing that the safety and wellbeing of our visitors is of the upmost importance to us and we are continually monitoring and responding to the Covid-19 pandemic situation as it evolves.

Current plans in place for the comfort and reassurance of our visitors include:

  • Requiring visitors to wear a face covering at all times unless eating or drinking. This does not apply to those under 11 years old or otherwise exempt.
  • Adding extra time slots, using an additional gate and revising the trail route to manage visitor flow
  • Additional cleaning across the route each night
  • Increased stewarding
  • The rides and catering facilities are under review, at present we do not plan the funfair to be included

As Kew Gardens is under Tier 4 restrictions, you can only attend Christmas at Kew with the people you live with, with your support bubble or, when on your own, with one person from another household.

You should only visit Christmas at Kew if you live in a Tier 4 area. Please visit for the most up-to-date information about coronavirus restrictions and to check which tier you are currently in.

We will continue to review the situation and communicate any further updates with you.

If Christmas at Kew is cancelled, you will be notified and offered an alternative date, if available, or a full refund (minus the transaction fee).

If you no longer wish to attend because of government restrictions in place due to coronavirus, please contact See Tickets customer service at the earliest opportunity to discuss further.
