Visitor notices and rules for Wakehurst

We welcome registered disability assistance dogs, no other dogs are allowed at Wakehurst.

Visitor notices

  • The Mansion will be closed on 21 July for a private engagement.  
  • There is a road closure on the B2028 at Turners Hill from 23 July to 31 August. Access to Wakehurst from this direction will be possible by following the roadwork diversions. 

Admission

  • Tickets are non-refundable
  • If you wish to re-enter the gardens later on the same day, just tell a Visitor Assistant as you leave
  • An adult must accompany any child 16 or under 

Garden rules

To protect our plants and buildings, the following things are not allowed:

  • dogs or other animals (other than registered disability assistance dogs, and such dogs must be kept on a lead at all times)
  • flying of drones and other remotely controlled aircraft and equipment
  • bicycles, balance bikes, tricycles, scooters, rollerskates, rollerblades, skateboards or heelies
  • vehicles other than powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters
  • radios / music players or musical instruments
  • ball games or sports including jogging
  • tree-climbing
  • pruning or touching plants

Picnics

We allow picnics with the following restrictions:

  • No picnics on the two lawns in front of the Mansion, or in the cafés and restaurant
  • No barbeques or picnic furniture
  • Please take away your rubbish

Permissions

Special permission is required for commercial photography / painting / filming / recording anywhere at Wakehurst.
