The Wakehurst Mansion and its grounds provide a beautiful setting for weddings all year round.
Our Elizabethan Mansion is an intimate venue set at the head of formal lawns which span out into a more relaxed wild botanic landscape. It's a perfect setting whatever the season.
The moment you step through the heavy oak door of the Mansion you'll be immersed in its impressive history.The view from the windows are across the Mansion Pond, its border overflowing with ornamental trees, plants and shrubs.
The Mansion has three reception rooms - giving you flexibility over how you wish your wedding to flow. The Dining Room, Gallery and Library are connected by a charming entrance foyer with sweeping staircase, which is a perfect backdrop for both formal and more relaxed photography.
Outside, the photo opportunities are endless - from wild meadows, lush woodland, a Himalayan Glade, Walled Garden, Iris Dell and a newly designed Winter Garden.
Your wedding ceremony
Wakehurst provides a choice of locations for you to exchange your vows.
For a summer wedding you can say ‘I do’ with up to 140 guests on the smooth, manicured lawns outside the Mansion – cocooning you in a historic garden setting.
Alternatively, you can choose the Library inside the Mansion for your ceremony, with its magnificent fireplace and high sculptured ceilings. It can accommodate up to 80 guests.
Your drinks reception
Guests can enjoy champagne and canapes outside on the lawns overlooking the enchanting Mansion Pond.
The adjoining bright Mansion Gallery provides an indoor alternative for your drinks reception.
Your wedding reception
Continue your celebrations in the Mansion Dining Room, with charming historic features including panelled walls and an ornately carved wooden fireplace.
With the flexibility to set your room with round or long tables you can design your own seating requirement for up to 60 guests. Party the night away in the connecting Mansion Gallery with your chosen entertainment, a fully staffed bar and evening catering.
