Specialism

Plant taxonomy and systematics (Cyperaceae), cytogenetics (genome sizeestimations and chromosome number count) and conservation

I am currently contributing to the Darwin Tree of Life project as a Research Assistant, but I specialized in evolutionary biology (chromosome/genome size evolution) and the systematics of the family Cyperaceae (mainly focusing on the genus Carex), although I have also worked with bryophytes.

I have been involved in different works with a focus on phylogeographic, systematics/taxonomy, chromosomal, or conservation purposes. I have organized fieldwork and planned collection campaigns within the Iberian Peninsula (Central System, Pyrenees, southern Spain and Portugal) and abroad (La Réunion -Mascarene islands-, South Africa, Brazil, Madagascar and Chile). I am interested in Cyperaceae evolution and conservation in South East Asia.
