In 2019, The Board of Trustees for RBG Kew appointed an independent review panel chaired by Professor Sir Charles Godfray, University of Oxford to undertake an assessment of the quality and impact of Kew Science over the period 2012 - 2018, together with advice and recommendations on future priorities for Kew.

The Panel felt that the majority of Kew’s research outputs were considered of internationally recognised quality and much of the work was considered excellent. The Panel’s conclusions and recommendations are documented in full in their report.

RBG Kew is developing a management response to the review recommendations many of which will also be addressed in the development of the next Kew Science Strategy 2021 – 2025.

A companion publication of case studies capturing examples of the Impact arising from Kew Science over the period 2012-2018 has also been produced to accompany the report.
