HABIT Perennial. Rhizomes elongated; leptomorph. Culms erect; 100–150 cm long; 4–7 mm diam.; woody. Culm-internodes terete; hollow; distally pubescent. Culm-nodes pubescent. Lateral branches suffrutescent; arising from upper culm. Bud complement 1. Branch complement one; solitary; as thick as stem. Culm-sheaths persistent; pubescent. Leaf-sheaths puberulous. Leaf-sheath oral hairs ciliate; deciduous. Ligule an eciliate membrane. Leaf-blade base with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath. Leaf-blades lanceolate, or oblong; 21–24 cm long; 40–50 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface glabrous; hairless throughout, or except near base. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.
INFLORESCENCE Flowering specimens unknown.
DISTRIBUTION Asia-temperate: eastern Asia.
