How to Use This Site

The database can be accessed via two interfaces:

A static webpage interface

The individual species descriptions can be browsed using the Species Index which has a standard A–Z listing of all the currently coded species. Alternatively you can use the updated search page.

These descriptions can also be accessed through the World Grass Species – Synonymy database (http://www.kew.org/data/grasses-syn.html) which provides a link to the description for all accepted names.

These pages consist of natural language descriptions for each of the species generated from the DELTA dataset. Use your browser's back button or the index link at the bottom of the page to return to the species index.

INTKEY – dynamic data exploration

This requires that you have INTKEY installed on your PC (see the Specifications page), but allows you to fully explore the dataset (for example querying for a list of Dioecious Grasses in a particular geographical region). This also provides an interactive identification facility whereby characters are ordered according to their discriminating power, allowing a user to drill down to a few remaining taxa in relatively few steps given the scope of the dataset.
