The lantern-making activity costs £4 per child. Spaces for lantern making are limited. We recommend pre-booking at the time of purchasing tickets online. There is no allotted time for this activity; it happens when you reach the end of the trail.
Pre-packaged lantern-making kits will be available to buy and take home on the day, and available to purchase by cash or card.
After purchasing your tickets online, you will receive a confirmation email from See Tickets, with extra information about the event included. Your entry ticket(s) will be an attachment in this email.
There’s no need to print this attachment. We recommend that you have this attachment already open on your mobile phone or tablet ready for when you get to Wakehurst, as mobile signal can be limited. Alternatively, you can join the Wakehurst guest WiFi when you arrive to retrieve this attachment.
You will receive one ticket per person (including under 4s and carers) so everyone is scanned through individually. All tickets for your party will be in the same attachment, so all members of your party must enter at the same time. Do not attempt to duplicate any of these tickets as second and subsequent scans will fail.
Your event ticket does not include day visitor entry to the gardens.
If you have a query relating to your ticket purchased by phone or online as of 13 August when tickets go on general sale, please contact See Tickets customer services by calling 0844 209 7359 (calls cost 7ppm plus the network access charge). Please note, ticket enquiries cannot be dealt with by staff at Wakehurst.
Visiting Wakehurst during the day
Your event ticket does not include day visitor entry to the gardens.
Daytime visitors will need to return to the Visitor Centre when the gardens close at 3.30pm (last entry 3pm). If you have a ticket for Glow Wild the same evening, you must exit the gardens at 3.30pm and re-enter at the time you have booked for. The Seed Café at the Visitor Centre will be open throughout.
At the event
The trail is fully accessible and just under one-mile long and takes approximately an hour to walk round. It can be viewed from hard standing and/or flat gravel paths, which are suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
Please be aware that the landscape is undulating so there are some slopes to be navigated and not all paths are concrete or even.
There are accessible toilets and baby changing available at the start, end and during the trail. These are located in the Visitor Centre, Stables restaurant and Winter Garden.
Wheelchairs, mobility scooters and buggies
Wheelchairs are available to borrow on a first come, first served basis. Two mobility scooters per evening can be made available, and must be booked in advance on 01444 894070.
Children's scooters are not permitted on the trail.
Buggies are allowed and the route is fully accessible.
Only guide dogs or registered disability assistance dogs are allowed in the gardens.
What to bring and wear
The event is outdoors and there are no covered areas on the trail, so ensure you have sufficient warm and waterproof clothing. Whilst all access paths along the trail are on hard surfaces, appropriate sturdy outdoor footwear is essential. Some of the paths are uneven.
In some areas the lighting will be low level (this is part of the experience). Please do not bring bright torches.
Cash and card payments will be available for purchasing pre-packaged lantern-making kits, outdoor food and drink offers and retail options.
For safety reasons, no naked flames (e.g. candles, night lights, flares and lanterns) are allowed.
There may be photography and filming at this event for promotional purposes. If you would prefer not to be on camera, you may speak to staff during your visit.
Food and drink
The Seed Café is open all day until 9.30pm. The Stables restaurant is open from 4.30pm to 9.30pm. Payments can be made by cash or card.
Food and drink options include teas, coffee, cakes and sandwiches at the Seed Café, and mulled wine and cider, hot chocolate, marshmallows and roasted chestnuts at the Carriage Ring food and drink stalls. The Stables restaurant will have a varied menu.
Please inform the catering staff of any allergies. There will be a variety of food available to meet a range of dietary requirements such as dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan.
Please try and save any shopping until the end of your evening as we cannot store your purchases at the Visitor Centre and it may be inconvenient to carry on the trail with you.
The exit will be through the gift shop at the Visitor Centre and the shop will be open until 9.45pm.
Payments can be made by cash or card.
After the event
Please leave quietly at the end of the event out of consideration for our neighbours.
Place all litter in the bins provided.
