Join in the half-term fun this February at our wild botanic garden.

Settle down for storytelling around the campfire, explore our winter woodlands on an exciting collecting trail and get set for a nettles cookery workshop.

Workshops and activities

Test Your Nettle – Zinging Cuisine and Singing Stingers

Date and time: 17 – 21 February 2020, 11am – 2pm

Location: The Oaks, Wakehurst

Price: 

  • £15 per child (free entry for one accompanying adult)
  • Includes day entry to the gardens and car parking

  • All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult

  • Book tickets online in advance to avoid disappointment

Suitable for ages 5+

Wander into the beautiful Wakehurst woodlands and forage for ingredients in this fun and practical cookery workshop. Huddle around the campfire, listen to storytelling and make your own delicious nettle soup, tea and cheese. For lunch, warm up with a steaming bowl of nettle soup.

Mini Bug Hotel and Green Heart Collage

Date and time: 15 – 23 February 2020, 10am – 4pm

Location: Millennium Seed Bank Atrium

Price: Free

Head to the Visitor Centre to receive a collecting card showing you what to look for in the gardens. Pick up sticks and green things, from mosses to leaves, to create a mini bug hotel. Get crafty and make a decorative green heart to add to our ‘Show the Love’ communal collage.

Explorer Rucksacks

Date: 15 – 23 February 2020, 10am – 4pm

Location: Pick up your rucksack at the Visitor Centre

Price: £4 

Pull-on one of our Explorer Rucksacks and prepare for an intrepid self-led journey through Wakehurst. Up for the challenge?
