Planned closures

We're always looking to improve our gardens for you, so check here before you visit to avoid disappointment.

Wakehurst Mansion

Our gardens are open for those who are well enough to appreciate fresh air and relaxation in nature during these difficult times.

We want to keep you and our staff safe. To help us limit numbers, please book a time slot in advance, otherwise unfortunately you won’t be allowed to visit.

Please do not come to the gardens if you are unwell or should be in isolation along with your household.

In line with national guidance, you can only visit with the people you live with, with your support bubble or, when on your own, with one person from another household.

Under the recent lockdown, you should only leave your home for limited reasons, including for outdoor exercise. You should not travel outside your local area for that exercise e.g. your town, village or part of the city where you live.

Closures for coronavirus (COVID-19)

Other closures

  • Paths across the gardens. From 1 March – 31 March, we are working on some essential path re-surfacing around our Elizabethan Mansion and Black Pond to ensure a smoother journey for visitors around the gardens. Whilst the work is going on, some pathways will be closed, and you may not be able to access some of your favourite spots as easily, especially if you have a pushchair or wheelchair. Please follow the diversion signs in place. Contact us if you have any questions ahead of your visit, or ask our friendly Visitor Services team on arrival.

  • The Walled Garden and Pleasance will be temporarily closed from the end of November whilst we carry out essential work to the historic stone walls.
