Pupils visit the world-famous Millennium Seed Bank and discover why Kew is saving seeds from all around the world.

Set in the inspirational Millennium Seed Bank, pupils learn about the importance of seeds and plants in our lives and the vital need for the seed bank.

They can see scientists at work in the labs through the windows in the exhibition area and discover how the staff at Kew handle this amazing collection of native and exotic seeds.

All our sessions have a cross-curricular approach and are tailored to suit the educational needs of your group.

We aim to give pupils opportunities to work scientifically in areas that are difficult or impossible to create in the school environment. 

This session offers pupils the opportunity to:

  • Discover the ways in which plants are important to us.
  • Appreciate the need for a Seed Bank.
  • Recognise the importance of seeds in our lives.
  • Handle an amazing selection of seeds from around the world and find out what  they grow into.
  • Find out about scientists at work.
