Learning outcomes

We design our sessions to match the learning outcomes in the national curriculum. All our sessions have a cross-curricular approach and are tailored to suit the educational needs of your group. We aim to give pupils opportunities that are difficult or impossible to create in the school environment.

This session offers pupils the opportunity to:

  • Handle a variety of parts of plants and use these to identify and describe the basic structure of a plant.
  • Use their observational skills to help them identify and name a variety of deciduous and evergreen trees.
  • Compare and group different plants growing in local habitats using descriptive and scientific language.
  • Understand why plant identification is important.
  • Use simple plant keys and identification charts to identify a variety of plants.
