Key Stage 1

Duration

45 minutes

Allocated space

30 pupils

Inspired by their natural surroundings at Wakehurst and through examples of artists’ designs, pupils work in groups and explore their own ideas to produce ephemeral works of art using collected parts of plants and trees.

Through role play pupils open their temporary gallery, evaluate their art, and record it with photographs.

Learning outcomes

We design our sessions to match the learning outcomes in the national curriculum. All our sessions have a cross-curricular approach and are tailored to suit the educational needs of your group.

Pupils will have the opportunity to:

  • Look at examples of the work of Andy Goldsworthy for inspiration.
  • Use a range of natural materials gathered from Wakehurst’s gardens to produce creative 2 or 3D work.
  • Work collaboratively, sharing ideas.
  • Evaluate and talk about the work created.

Curriculum links
