Disability and access guide for Wakehurst

We want everyone to have an enjoyable time at Wakehurst, so we aim to provide the best possible access throughout the garden, our buildings and other facilities. Find out about getting around when you arrive.

Free entry for

  • registered blind and partially-sighted visitors
  • essential carers accompanying visitors with a disability

Disabled parking

There are a limited number of parkings spaces available for cars displaying a Blue Badge. They are next to the Visitor Centre. 

Getting around

There are many gravel and hard surface paths around the gardens. A large area of the ornamental planting, lawns and water features around the Mansion is level and accessible via a hard surface path from the Visitor Centre. 

The remaining garden and woodland areas have steep slopes and steps.

Borrow a wheelchair or mobility scooter

There are a limited number of wheelchairs available to borrow. There is no need to book in advance, please ask when you arrive

There are two mobility scooters to borrow, these must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. To book please call 01444 894070.
