The Office of the Science Directorate provides support to the Director of Science and Kew's science research departments. This support is provided by the following teams:
Provides administrative support to the Director of Science, the Science Heads and the team leaders in the Office of the Science Directorate.
Coordinates Kew's scientific education programmes and internal and external science communication activities. This team works to promote our world-class research and leads on delivering our new MSc in Plant and Fungal Taxonomy, Diversity and Conservation in conjunction with Queen Mary University of London.
Supports all science funding applications through providing advice on available funds, budget planning and proposal writing, overseeing the internal approval and sign-off processes and providing post-award support, ensuring that project leaders receive timely financial statements and comply with funders’ requirements for record-keeping and reporting. The team also provides a reporting function to the Science Heads.
Ensures that the work of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is legally compliant and that staff are kept informed of any relevant new legislation/conventions and provide guidance on new protocols. They provide expert advice, support and training on international conventions and conservation policy, and prepare Access and Benefit sharing agreements.
Ensures a safe working environment across the Science Directorate, work on improving sustainable working practices and act as a point of contact to Estates.
