Biography Plus

I am a postdoctoral research fellow associated with Bill Baker. My research focus is the understanding of patterns of diversity and abundance variation in tropical forests for palms and other plant groups. In the past years I have documented patterns of forest structure and floristic variation in relation to environmental gradient. More recently, I have become interested in gaining a more mechanistic view on what is driving plant success and have started to apply myself in the fields of plant demography, structural biology, ecophysiology and evolution. My current research program is focused on understanding the role of palm hydraulics on palm success and diversification.
