My role in the molecular laboratory focuses on DNA sequencing and associated methods. Tasks include operation and maintenance of specialist equipment, training staff, students and visitors in specialist techniques, assisting in research projects, and applying appropriate health and safety procedures.
I am a molecular biologist with research interests on molecular systematics, biogeography and biodiversity. Currently the project that I am involved in is under the Plant and Fungal Trees of Life (PAFTOL) project, one of the eight main scientific outputs of RBG Kew’s science strategy for the 2015-2020 period. The Greek flora project focuses on the evolution of the flora of the Greek archipelagos aiming to examine patterns of phylogenetic diversity within this rich and diverse floristic region.
