My PhD research focuses on the diversification of Urochloa (Brachiaria) grasses: African grasses that dominate forage crop systems across the tropics globally.

I use morphological, cytological, and genomic data to understand the forces that drove speciation within this complex genus.

Understanding how Urochloa grasses evolved and characterising their diversity will allow breeders and farmers nations to produce more sustainable forage cultivars across developing nations.
