My role as a research assistant is related to measuring above ground carbon as part of the Landscape Ecology Programme.
I use remote sensing technology and spatial analysis to map and measure different types of habitat and calculate how much carbon is stored in the vegetation across the landscape. I am interested in how different types of habitat contribute to the overall ecosystem services provided on a landscape scale and how such scientific evidence can contribute to land management plans and sustainability targets.
Further interests include biodiversity conservation, restoration ecology and citizen science.
