Specialism
My research interests include:
• Public access to museum collections and documentation
• Ethnographic collections and their colonial ties
• How digitisation can support collections access for source communities
My role supports the transition of the Economic Botany Collection's current database across to a new integrated system bringing together each of Kew's collections. This involves preparing data relating to historic records for each specimen before it is moved across. Alongside data cleaning, and standardising, I am also ensuring the collections management system meets the needs of this collection, which contains both scientific and ethnographic material.
I also support the Collections Manager with looking after the Economic Botany Collection (e.g. environmental conditions, documentation, loans and digitisation) and facilitating access for visitors, researchers and other related projects.
