Dr Elizabeth Gardner

Deputy Director of Science - Operations

Department

Science Operations

As Deputy Director of Science for operations, I am responsible for the strategic leadership and delivery of science services, operations, finance and administration in the Science Directorate. My focus is on strengthening the interactions across science and RGB Kew more widely in support of the effective delivery of our scientific priorities, and on cultivating a positive, collaborative, and innovative centre of excellence.

I work across the four main areas of Science Operations – Science Collections, Library and Archives, Kew Madagascar Conservation Centre Operations, Scientific Services and Laboratories – to ensure we are able to realise our full potential in delivering excellence to our users and are aligned to the needs of the Science Directorate and its stakeholders.

Prior to joining Kew, I worked at the Henry Royce Institute for advanced materials and innovation where I was responsible for establishing the operations function of this EPSRC institute and for delivery of its new £105m research facility in Manchester.
