I am a member of one of the processing teams within the seed collections section at Kew's Millennium Seed Bank. Work undertaken includes: initial receipt and assessment of incoming collections, followed by the cleaning, x-raying, counting, banking and germination testing of new accessions. Regeneration and harvesting of relevant collections is performed along with seed-collecting both in the UK and worldwide. Research into seed dormancy and germination issues of various collections to assess viability is also carried out.
