MP Zac Goldsmith visits Kew

Zac Goldsmith visited to learn more about Kew’s policy work.

The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) is an international agreement between governments to regulate the international trade of threatened plant and animal species.

Kew is the designated UK Scientific Authorty for CITES and plays a vital role, providing scientific advice on CITES policy to DEFRA and enforcement agencies, identifying, holding and disposing of seized plant material and carrying out research into plants affected by international trade.

Zac Goldsmith, MP for Richmond Park recently met with Kew scientists to hear about Kew’s work on CITES and illegal trade.
