Book a research visit to the Fungarium

We welcome academic researchers from around the world to visit our Fungarium for research purposes.

These are arranged using the form below. Members of the general public are invited to explore the collection via special events, such as open days.

If you are an international researcher and require a letter of support for a visa, please ensure you apply for your visa at least three months in advance of your visit.

Your visit

What is the reason for your visit?

To help facilitate your visit, we need to know what specimens from our collection you'd like to work on.

Please give details of the fungal families, genera, or species you wish to see.

Alternatively, you can give us the aims or outcomes of your project so we have an idea of how the collection can help you.

Please note that we may not be able to accommodate short-notice requests with less than two weeks’ notice.

Are you visiting with a group?
Do you require a microscope on your visit?
Do you intend bringing any specimens with you?

We need to know in advance if specimens will be brought with you. These will take about a week before they can be made available because they will need to be frozen for pest control.
