Kew Gardens’ popular Summer Cycle is back!
A unique chance to cycle around Kew Gardens after hours

- Usually off-limits for cyclists, for the second year running Kew is inviting people to explore its 360 acres on two wheels

Kew Gardens is once again inviting people to explore its stunning landscape by bike with friends, family, or as a peaceful solo cycle!
After months of lockdown, where the idea of cycling around a UNESCO World Heritage Site was the stuff of dreams, Kew’s Summer Cycle, on Thursday 13 August, will see people meandering around the Gardens on two wheels. From the magnificent Broad Walk Borders, spilling over with bright, bountiful blooms, to the stunning Rose Garden which fills the evening air with a sweet rose-scented fragrance, this will be a chance to blow away the cobwebs and soak up Kew at its glorious summer best.
Visitors can picnic on Kew’s breath-taking Syon Vista, which sweeps from the Palm House down to the river Thames or stop off at the Pavilion restaurant to grab a bite to eat. With plenty of time to explore the Gardens, visitors can reach the secret, hidden corners in their leisure to bask in the beauty of nature.
Sandra Botterell, Director of Marketing and Commercial Enterprise, RBG Kew said: “Kew Gardens is so beautiful on a summer’s evening, with so much to enjoy. I am delighted we are once again opening the Gardens for visitors to enjoy by bike. Cycling is normally reserved for people who work at RBG Kew, so it’s a rare opportunity to experience the Gardens on two wheels.”
With no defined route, visitors will be able to cycle on the paths around the Gardens, with some of the narrower paths being one way including the Rock Gardens and behind Queen Charlotte’s Cottage. Entrance is via Elizabeth Gate or via Brentford Gate for those who book parking.
Kew’s Summer Cycle will be hosted after hours from 5.30pm to 8.30pm (last entry 7.30pm) on Thursday 13 August with tickets costing £20 for adults, £18 for members, and £10 for children with under 4s free. Visit https://www.kew.org/kew-gardens/whats-on/summer-cycle to purchase tickets.
There is no bike hire on the evening so those wishing to join this event are requested to bring their own bikes.
