Specialism

Natural resource use, conservation strategies, wildlife trade, biocultural diversity, ethnobotany and policy implementation of CITES, CBD, Nagoya Protocol and Sustainable Development Goals.

In my role as Senior Science Officer, I focus on the Convention of International Trade of Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) working in the UK CITES Scientific Authority for Flora team. I am responsible for our scientific advice on CITES to Defra and the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) on policy and licencing. I coordinate the wildlife trade research required to support our policy advice. I provide training and advice on CITES and global policies to ensure awareness of legal requirements in relation to collections, fieldwork and research.
