Teacher planning passes
The lead teacher or group booking organiser can visit the Gardens in advance, to help plan the group visit.
Once we have received payment for your booking, you will be allocated two free access passes.
You need to book a timeslot in advance and select 'gift voucher' in the booking process.
Please show your pre-planning tickets to Kew gate staff on entry to the Gardens.
This is a guide to help you develop a risk assessment specific to the needs of your participants and staff.
How your teacher training day will work
The Gardens open from 10am, and you are welcome to arrive from then.
Sessions begin at 10:30am, so please make sure you arrive with enough time to meet your Kew teacher at the schools meeting point (to the left of the Botanical restaurant, opposite the Palm House) ready to start at 10:30am.
Modules 1 and 2 will take place in the morning between 10.30am and 12.30pm.
For lunch, please bring a packed lunch. Alternatively, you can purchase food at one of our catering outlets.
Modules 3 and 4 will take place in the afternoon between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
The day will finish at 3.30pm. You are then free to explore the Gardens until closing time. Please note that closing time for the Gardens varies seasonally.
What to do if your arrival is delayed
If you know in advance that you will be delayed, email us at email@example.com.
If you are unexpectedly delayed on the day, phone us on 020 8332 5627 with your revised arrival time.
What to wear
Be prepared for rain or shine. Please wear suitable, layered clothing for outdoor and tropical conditions and comfortable shoes for walking on grass or pavement.
What to do in an emergency
Please contact the nearest member of Kew staff or a Kew constable. The emergency number on an internal phone is 333 and external is 020 8332 3333.
Please do not call 999 as ambulance/fire/police crews may take time to find you. It is better coordinated through Kew's own police force who deal with First Aid, security and emergencies.
If you're travelling by public transport, we recommend checking the government guidelines for safe travel.
If you're travelling to Kew as an individual, please follow the general guidance on our getting here page.
