Wild botanic garden

We invite you to join us for a day trip to Wakehurst, our wild botanic garden in the Sussex countryside.

We will provide transport to and from Kew Gardens, and you will have the opportunity to explore Wakehurst and the displays at the Millennium Seedbank at your leisure.

The landscape takes on an altogether different character to Kew Gardens. Prepare yourself for a global adventure, exploring the beautifully designed Southern Hemisphere Garden, inspired by the wild collection of Wakehurst’s 19th Century owner, or the deep ravine populated by the mountain flora of the Himalayas and China.

It's an exciting time to discover new landscape designs coming to life in the sensory Winter Garden.

If you love wild countryside, you can lose yourself in the 40 acre Loder Valley Nature Reserve. It's a conservation hotspot which is home to over 300 plant species, dormice, badgers, kingfishers and butterflies.

The Millenium Seed Bank is buzzing with scientific research and discovery, with experts on an important mission to conserve 25% of the world’s plant species by 2020. It is also a hub for sharing seeds with global partners, casting the conservation net far and wide to protect our futures.

You can also enjoy delicious food from the Stables Restaurant and find beautiful unique gifts and interesting plants in the gift shop.
