Are you a budding botanical artist? Get tips on developing your own artwork, and have a go at creating your own botanical painting of an orchid.
Join us for a chance to meet botanical artists Lucy T Smith and Hazel Wilks and try your hand at watercolour painting with their guidance.
Lucy and Hazel will be available to answer your questions and give practical advice on botanical illustration.
About the artists
Lucy T Smith
Resident at Kew as a freelance artist, Lucy has now contributed over 600 pen and ink illustrations to Kew's illustration archives, alongside over 20 watercolors for Curtis's Botanical Magazine. She leads the Kew Certificate in Botanical Illustration and runs short courses in botanical illustration, as well as tutoring for the Chelsea School of Botanical Art.
Hazel Wilks has been a freelance botanical illustrator at Kew since 2002. She teaches botanical art courses on pen and ink and coloured pencil at Kew. Her drawings are also held in Kew's illustration archives and have been published across the globe in a wide range of botanical journals and books.
