Living Plant Collection

Kew contains the most diverse collection of living plants of any botanic garden in the world. The collection contains plants from tropical, temperate, arid and alpine climates, and are grown out in the Gardens and in controlled conditions within glasshouses and nurseries.

What is a Living Plant Collection?

A living collection is a group of plants grown for research, conservation, education or ornamental display, and accurately identified and documented. This key feature distinguishes a botanic garden from other public gardens and parks.

Improving our collections information

We will be adding to and improving these pages as we begin to share more information with visitors about our Living Collection.
