INFLORESCENCE Inflorescence a panicle.

Panicle open (1), or contracted (2). Primary panicle branches sterile at the tips.

Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled.

FERTILE SPIKELETS Spikelets comprising 1 basal sterile florets; 1 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets lanceolate (1), or elliptic (2); dorsally compressed; 2.5–3.083–4 mm long; falling entire.

GLUMES Glumes shorter than spikelet; thinner than fertile lemma. Lower glume oblate; not gibbous (2), or gibbous (1); hyaline (1), or membranous (2); without keels; 3 -veined (2), or 7 -veined (1). Lower glume lateral veins without ribs (2), or ribbed (1). Lower glume surface without pits. Lower glume apex obtuse (2), or acute (1). Upper glume oblong (1), or ovate (2); hyaline (1), or membranous (2); without keels; 3 -veined (2), or 4–5 -veined (1), or 11 -veined (1). Upper glume lateral veins without ribs (2), or ribbed (1). Upper glume apex obtuse.

FLORETS Basal sterile florets male; with palea. Lemma of lower sterile floret oblong (2), or ovate (1); membranous (2), or herbaceous (1); 5–6 -veined (1), or 7 -veined; sulcate; obtuse (1), or acute (2). Palea of lower sterile floret becoming indurate on keels at maturity; winged on keels. Fertile lemma elliptic (2), or ovate (1); not gibbous (2), or gibbous (1); indurate; without keel; wingless; 5 -veined (1/1). Lemma surface granulose; rugulose (1), or rugose (2); without grooves. Lemma margins involute. Lemma apex obtuse (1), or acute (2); muticous (2), or mucronate (1). Palea involute; indurate.
