Mali

Michiel Van Slageren continues his African adventure in Mali, going to extraordinary lengths to collect seed with his team of locals, encountering hippopotami and other wildlife. Their reward is the discovery of a rare water plant from which seed has never before been collected.

Spirit Collection

Kew is home to probably the world's largest collection of plant specimens kept in preserving spirit. This needs regular maintenance and some new specimens are proving particularly tricky.
