Landmarks and Discoveries

Alpine House

The stunning new glasshouse is opened by Michael Palin after a year in construction: its unique design cools the air so that the alpine plants can flower at their best.

Moving the palm

Dave Cooke is attempting to move a large palm that has outgrown its position in the Temperate House. Dave looks at archive photos of Charles Raffill who moved a similar specimen in 1938.
