Summer Bedding
It's June and time for the bedding in the Palm House border to
be renewed for the summer - the biggest planting of the year. For
the Kew team this means ripping out 12,000 plants and putting another
12,000 back in… …in just one week.
It's a different challenge at the Princess of Wales Conservatory
border - there's no elaborate, formal plan to follow.
Meadlands School
Two of Kew's Tree Gang are going back to school. Meadlands School
used to be a school like any other, with just a yard to play in.
Now, thanks to Kew staff (one of whom is a former pupil) they have trees, a pond, outdoor classrooms and secret paths where the children can learn to plant, dig, share and take pride in their work.
Plant Auction - preparation
It's time for Kew's 13th annual charity auction of plants in the
majestic Orangery at Kew. It's no easy task making sure the day
runs smoothly and that all the plants are ready and at their best
for the punters. Inevitably it doesn't go strictly to plan....
