A historical view of Rhododendron Dell

Photo of Rhododendron Dell

The Rhododendron Dell was created in 1773 by Capability Brown and planted with mountain laurels.  New species of rhododendron were added by Joseph Hooker in 1850 and Ernest Wilson in 1911. The Dell is the only surviving area of Capability Brown's landscaping left at Kew Gardens.
