About the tour

The guides will concentrate on the ornamental gardens close to the Elizabethan Mansion, looking at plants of seasonal interest as well as explaining some of the history of the house and gardens.

They will also talk about RBG Kew’s conservation work being undertaken by the science and horticultural teams across the Millennium Seed Bank, nursery and landscape.

Guides at Wakehurst are all dedicated volunteers with a wide knowledge and passion for the gardens.

The free tour is designed for individuals and families, whether it’s your first time visiting or you're a regular to the gardens wanting to learn more.

Look out for our Explainers

You'll find our volunteer Explainers dotted around the Wakehurst landscape.

They are on hand to answer questions about our work at Wakehurst — do stop and have a chat if you see them and their 'Ask me' bags!
