An estate dating back to Norman times, an Elizabethan mansion and a garden from the beginning of the 20th century combine to give Wakehurst Place a sense of history that few other gardens can match.
In this illustrated talk, come and hear all about the estate’s long journey to the present day and the numerous and influential characters that were involved in shaping it, starting with a Norman who arrived with William the Conqueror.
John Withall is a freelance lecturer, garden guide and a former ranger at Wakehurst Place.
