Discover fun, excitement, adventure, and most important of all – chocolate – at Kew Gardens this Easter. Explore our interactive Maya trail around the Gardens, and then make something special to take home at a chocolate making and craft workshop. Find out about the special events taking place over Easter weekend.

Embark on an exciting Maya chocolate adventure at Kew Gardens this Easter.

Magic, fun, yummy chocolate and 3,000 years of history are waiting for you on an interactive trail around the Gardens. Collect crayon rubbings of all the Mayan symbols to solve a puzzle. On your journey explore the famous Palm House, offer an origami flower as a gift to an ancient Maya god, add your wish to our cacao wishing tree, and make something special to take home. Along the way you will hear the story of the ingredients the ancient Maya used for a special chocolate drink.

Easter weekend at Kew Gardens

Even more fun activities are taking place over Easter weekend, including our annual Easter egg hunt for our younger visitors.

Take part in our chocolate egg hunt on Easter Sunday, meet the friendly characters from Climbers and Creepers, and win a delicious chocolate egg from our Easter bunnies. Get your face painted with an Easter design or a symbol you’ve discovered on the Maya adventure trail. Families can ride the Kew Explorer land train to hear a special tour exploring the history of chocolate and old Maya myths, or enjoy themed storytelling sessions. Find out more!

Chocolate is the star of the show at Kew Gardens this Easter. Discover lots of fascinating chocolatey facts in fun, interactive chocolate-themed activities.

Our most popular event is back with a Maya twist - the little ones can get their hands messy and make something delicious to take home with them in our chocolate making workshops. There are limited places for these so arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Plus handle a real cacao pod in our hands-on sessions, and find out about special Easter weekend activities including an Easter egg hunt and chocolate-themed tours on the Kew Explorer.
