Contemporary folk!

Since forming in 2004, English contemporary folk band Bellowhead have gone from strength to strength. The eleven-piece band have released four studio albums - the latest being 2012's Broadside, with their third Hedonism taking the title of the highest selling independently released folk album of all time.

Bellowhead have become highly decorated in recent years - including winning the title of greatest live band in Britain - and have a whopping seven wins at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards to their name. They’ve also been nominated at this year’s Best Band and Best Album at BBC Radio 2’s Folk Awards. Fingers’ crossed!

With special guest Billy Bragg

Bag yourself a ticket to see the super-talented singer-songwriter Billy Bragg!

British singer and activist Billy Bragg started his career in the band Riff Raff, did a spell in the British Army and then came back to music in the early 80s. And he has been fusing music and politics ever since.

Billy’s first top 10 single came when the late Kirsty MacColl covered his song A New England and he scored a top ten hit with his 1986 album Talking with the Taxman About Poetry. Billy - who has 14 studio albums to his name - has worked with many other musicians during his career including Kate Nash, Less than Jake, the Levellers, as well as playwright Patrick Jones.

Supported by Karine Polwart

With glowing reviews for the evocative lyricism and cinematic musical depth of her new album "Traces", Scottish singer-songwriter Karine Polwart will be playing a raft of songs from the new album and some live favourites at Kew. Karine Polwart will be live on stage from 6.20pm.
