An Atlas cedar at Kew Gardens

Amongst living relatives

Two Sliced Cedars is made from wood sourced in Sussex. For the duration of the Kew exhibition, these pieces are situated within view of a row of Atlas cedars (Cedrus atlantica), which line the avenue leading from the Shirley Sherwood Gallery of Botanical Art to the Temperate House. The upward sloping branches distinguish the Atlas from other cedars. Introduced to Britain in 1841, this species, with its blue-tinged needles, is most commonly found in parks and gardens.
