History of the Palm House at Kew Gardens

Kew's Curator, Nigel Taylor, explores the history of the iconic Palm House – one of the most important surviving Victorian iron and glass structures in the world.

 

Inspired by ship-building technology, the Palm House was designed to accommodate the exotic palms being collected. Watch this film to  find out when it was introduced to Europe and how it was built.
