During his time at Kew Gardens, David Nash will be exhibiting existing works and producing new work in the wood quarry. You can follow his progress here and find out more about how David Nash turns trees into art.
From April 2012, Nash will work at Kew on a ‘wood quarry’ creating new pieces for the upcoming exhibition, using trees from the Gardens that have come to the end of their natural life. The fruits of his labour on display from October 2012. The wood quarry will be sited on Cedar Vista, within view of the Pagoda.
Thank you for your comment Sandy. We have changed the membership benefits recently and, as a result, Friends of Kew can bring in one family guest on each visit, rather than only six family guests per year. In line with HMRC regulations, complimentary day passes have been intended for use by family members for the last few years and this was printed on them. Although HMRC have given us a definition of what they consider to be "family" (and this is paraphrased in our literature) they also recognise that Kew "...cannot be expected to check the identity and family relationship of people who seek admission to their premises...".
We hope you will continue to enjoy visiting Kew Gardens, including the upcoming David Nash exhibition, opening in June.
I have liked David Nash's work since I saw his blackened pieces at the Royal Academy. As a Friend of Kew I am looking forward to seeing his work there, and, I hope, watch him making it. I wish I could bring a friend, but you have changed your Friendship benefits.
