CNN at Kew - Bringing buildings to life

Architects have long looked to nature for inspiration, but the possibilities for buildings with life-like characteristics are just being explored.

 

Biomimicry is the practice of asking nature for design advice. Architecture has embraced biomimicry from an early stage, all the way back to the ancient Greeks.

David Marks looked to nature when he designed Kew's Xstrata Treetop Walkway. The aim of the design approach was to create a structure that would sit happily in a natural environment.
